Sanmei-gaku converts your birth date into the old calendar, then derives ten main stars and twelve energy stars to build a three-dimensional portrait of a person. At the middle of it sits one star: your core.
Sanmei-gaku has Chinese roots but was systematised in Japan. It converts your birth date into the stems and branches of the traditional calendar, and from those reads two things: what kind of person you are, and how much energy you were issued with at birth. It is less a matter of predicting hits and misses than of reading your own blueprint.
Your year, month and day rendered as stems and branches. The material you are made of, mostly invisible from outside. Everything else is calculated from it.
The body star chart derived from it. Your character, talent and behaviour as other people meet them, laid out as five stars.
The physical and mental fuel you were born with. Three stars, scored out of 12 each: 36 in total.
Five main stars are placed on a human figure. The star at the chest is your centre star — the core of who you are. Read that one first; everything else is context.
Your essential nature and sense of self. The single most important star.
How you meet parents and seniors; the face you wear at home.
How you treat those younger than you, and how you pass things on.
How you operate in the world, and the role you take.
How you relate to a partner and to close friends.
Kanshaku, Sekimon, Hōkaku, Chōjo, Rokuzon, Shiroku, Shaki, Kengyū, Ryūkō, Gyokudō — ten distinct temperaments.
Sanmei-gaku builds the chart from your year, month and day only — no birth time is required, which is one of its practical advantages. Nothing is stored or sent anywhere: the calculation runs entirely in your browser.
Solar terms are approximated using average dates, and only the principal hidden stem is used — this is a simplified reading. If you were born within a day of a seasonal boundary, a professional may place you differently. For self-understanding and entertainment.
First the foundation: your birth date rendered as stems and branches. The Day Stem — the upper character of the day column — is the single character that stands for you.
The visible you, derived from the chart above. The chest is what matters most — that is your core.
Read from the element of your Day Stem. A "controlling" relationship is not a bad person — it is friction, and friction is usually where the learning is.
| Their Day Stem | Element | Relationship to you | How to handle it |

Sanmei-gaku holds that people are simply issued different amounts of fuel. Three stars, 12 points each — 36 in total. A high score suits a life lived loudly; a low score suits a life of depth and focus. Neither is superior. The point is to know your engine and run at a speed it can sustain.
Same birth date, different lens, different angle. Take what this told you and check it against another system.
Sanmei-gaku is one mirror. Tenmeia brings four Eastern systems together, each showing a different face of the same life.
